Life of Pi child actor Ayush fulfils his father's dream

Ayush Tandon, who will be seen in Oscar-winning director Ang Lee's upcoming film Life of Pi is not only pursuing his dream of becoming an actor but also his father's.

The 14-year-old is the son of TV actor Hatinder and will be seen playing the role of young Pi in Lee's film, which is set to open at IFFI in Goa.

"My father came here to become an actor. It was his dream. He got me into acting through advertisements and films. Today, even my dream is to become an actor," Ayush told PTI. Ayush has been trained by his father in dance and acting skills.

"I am happy that what I was unable to do...achieve that my son is doing. He is fulfilling my dream. It is all because of the blessings of almighty that Ayush is doing good work," his father Hatinder said. When Ayush was signed on for this film he was not much aware about Lee and hence started looking out for information on him.

"When we received a message that Ang Lee sir has selected me I started to dig information about him. I had watched his movie 'Hulk' but was not aware that he had directed it. The experience was such that it could not be erased from my memory," he said.

Ayush also said that he got to know about the casting for this film through an agency and was ecstatic when he finally got selected after two-three rounds of auditions. Talking about his role, Ayush says, "I play the role of a school going kid up to the age of 12 whose name is actually Piscine Moliter Patel. He is teased by his classmates as 'Pissing' which forced him to adopt Pi a short for Pissing."

Movie-Bullet Raja Sonakshi Sinha working with Saif

After working with names like Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn, actress Sonakshi Sinha is now excited about working with Saif Ali Khan in Bullet Raja. She considers it a "fresh pairing".

"It's a very fresh pairing and I am looking forward to work with Saif Ali Khan. I actually wanted to work with him for quite some time, and luckily got an opportunity with 'Bullet Raja'. I am extremely excited to work with Saif," Sonakshi told IANS. Bullet Raja, directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, is set around Uttar Pradesh-based mafia.

The shooting of the movie has already begun, but Sonakshi will join the crew in February 2013. "I believe they have already started shooting the film. I was busy shooting for Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai 2 and Dabangg 2, so I will join the crew of Bullet Raja in February," she said.

Sonakshi isn't sure where her parts will be shot, but says she might have to travel to Uttar Pradesh. The actress, who made her Bollywood debut with Dabangg in 2010, says she is happy with the roles she has received. She says, "Luckily I am doing some good films, and I am fortunate to be part of Lootera, which has been a tough role and different," she said.

In Vikramaditya Motwane's Lootera, Sonakshi features opposite Ranveer Singh

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Movie review

The Twilight franchise embraces its own innate absurdity with the gleefully over-the-top conclusion, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2.

This is by far the best film in the series. This does not necessarily mean it's good. But as it reaches its prolonged and wildly violent crescendo, it's at least entertaining in a totally nutso way.

The first four adaptations of Stephenie Meyer's mega-best sellers about the girl-vampire-werewolf love triangle (the final book was divided into two films for maximum box-office benefit) were, for the most part, laughably self-serious affairs full of mopey teen angst, stilted dialogue and cheesy special effects. Sure, they pleased their fervent audience, made billions of dollars worldwide and turned their three core actors into instant superstars. But they weren't what you would call high-quality cinematic experiences.

No longer torn between two amorous, animalistic suitors, Bella (Kristen Stewart) has married vampire Edward (Robert Pattinson), produced his hybrid spawn and been turned into one of the undead herself to avoid actual death during childbirth. Now she gets to enjoy all the perks of living forever — unstoppable strength and speed, the thrill of hunting for fresh blood and a seemingly unlimited sex drive. (The visuals still look awfully clunky and fake, especially in these scenes where Edward and Bella are running and jumping through the forest. At least the werewolves have stopped talking to each other, though.)

And Stewart seems to be enjoying herself for the first time, too. She's done away with the sulking and lip-biting and thrives within her newfound ferocious femininity. The swoony Edward almost feels like an afterthought here: This is Bella's time to sparkle.

Jacob (Taylor Lautner), the childhood friend and werewolf who was competing for her affections in small-town Forks, Wash., is still around and he's assumed a new role: He has "imprinted" on Bella's newborn daughter, the hideously named Renesmee (Mackenzie Foy), which makes him her protector and lover for life. Yes, this is creepy, but at least the film acknowledges as much.

Death of Bal Thackeray shooks the Bollywood

Among a string of 'rest in peace' messages from Bollywood celebrities, following Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray's death here Saturday, were emotional condolences from veterans like Amitabh Bachchan and Lata Mangeshkar. They described him as a man of grit and purity.

ACER Windows RT operating system

LONDON: Taiwanese computer maker Acer is putting off the launch of tablets using Microsoft's new Windows RT operating systemto give itself time to see how Microsoft's own Surface tablet fares.

The world's No. 4 PC vendor by shipments initially planned to roll out Windows RT tablets based on ARM chips early next year. However, the launch of Microsoft's tablet last week and the mixed reviews it has drawn has prompted Acer to wait and see until at least the second quarter of 2013.

"Originally we had a very aggressive plan to come out very early next year but because of Surface, our R&D development doesn't stop, but we are much more cautious," Acer President Jim Wong told Reuters on Tuesday.

"Originally our plan was Q1, but now I don't think it will be earlier than Q2," Wong said on the sidelines of a presentation of Acer's new line of Windows 8 touchscreen notebooks and tablets.

Acer was one of the first companies to criticise Microsoft for moving into the computer hardware business and competing with its partners' devices.
